The installation Surface Tension is reflective, an exploration of the personal biography and the sources of the own visual style.
Old drawings of the factory machinery of the Chusovskoy Metallurgical Plant, where the artist did his internship, were used in creating the installation. There were also presented a desk with drafts and drawings, work clothes, a briefcase for papers and a glass of water with a paper clip floating in it.
Physicists refer to surface tension as the tendency of liquid molecules to bind together on a surface. It is this property that prevents the paper clip from sinking. The simultaneous presence of a professional engineer's artefacts and a schoolboy's experiment with surface tension is evocative of a naïve curiosity for physical processes.
